Singing brings us together.

We make music, we breathe together, we feel together, we move together:

We connect with each other.

We connect with our past and our future

We connect with our audience.

We connect with our community.

We connect with our world.

CONNECTIONS:  The Defiant Requiem

VIH is honored to be a part of this performance of Guiseppe Verdi’s Requiem  at Northern Illinois University, with a full professional orchestra and soloists.  The Defiant Requiem relates the true story of Verdi’s masterpiece in the context of the Terezin Concentration Camp.  There, starting in 1941, a brilliant young conductor taught the work to 150 fellow prisoners from one musical score, and performed it 16 times, most famously for the SS officers.  You will see testimonies from survivors, and experience the life-affirming power of music in the face of desolation.  We connect with the past; it speaks to us today.
